Fargo (1996)

It’s been one of my main goals to watch more recent films because lately I’ve been watching a lot of older films and whatnot but Fargo has always intrigued me ever since i watched “these amazing shadows”

it seems that usually whenever i have high expectations of a movie {or rather one i’ve been telling myself that i really want to see because i constantly come across a reference of it} i’m disappointed. however that was not the case with fargo.

even though i’m what they call a “90’s kid” i absolutely hate the 90’s: HATE it. the clothes, the cars, the music, the mood, just everything. which obviously this movie has and perhaps even more so as they did a great job at emphasizing the aspects that i hate. {that being the cars, attitude, dark and washed out colors, etc} however i think that’s what i loved about it; all those things set against the pure whiteness of the snow. and how the shots utilized the snow! i think it was at the very beginning where this one shot 95% of the shot was the snow and at the very bottom was a thin line of the road and the car driving on it. loved that.

anyways its probably no surprise that my favorite character was marge. funny, tough, thoughtful, selfless, she definitely won me over.

hated jerry from the beginning; no sympathy whatsoever. what a baby. pretty sure he is added to my most hated characters ever along with dimmesdale from the scarlet letter.

as i reflect on the film, it was the mise-en-scene that impressed me the most. each person’s home reflected their personality very well in that, despite the length of the film, i got to know their whole person very well. the town itself, the location, everything. obviously this is  one of the main functions of it, it seemed to stand out to me in this particular film

When you get a chance check out The Big Lebowski and No Country for Old Men, other than Fargo those would be my favorites.
