Hello and welcome to my film blog!

My name is Miranda and I am a senior in college. This is a picture of me taken this May in front of The George Eastman House:

I became seriously interested in film during my sophomore year of high school when I began watching Classical Hollywood films. I spent a good year or so watching as many silents, pre-codes, melodramas, film noirs, basically anything that I could get my hands on. Around that time, I was trying to decide where I wanted to go to college and what I wanted to major in. Eventually I decided that I wanted to work in film preservation and conversation. Thus I decided to major in film studies, I never imaged such a perfect major would be right there for me! As of now my goal is to focus on preservation because what could be more fulfilling than saving film for future generations to see!

Ever since my decision to major in film studies, I have started watching whatever I can from every genre. There are still many essentials and classics that I have yet to see but I try not to let that intimidate me; it is best to start somewhere and that’s exactly what I’ll do: start.

For awhile I wanted this blog to be pretty formal in its posts and reviews, but I always felt I had to push time aside to write, leaving me to never end up writing anything! Therefore, this will mostly be an informal blog, a place for me to write my initial thoughts, comments, criticisms, anything really. In all honesty, this blog is more about me discovering my own thoughts rather than being an A+ informer for others (if that’s more your aim, I have some recommendations of some WONDERFUL blogs which do just that!)

However with that being said, I would love any comments! It’s always great to hear anything from other people and engage in conversation! So please, don’t be shy and I hope you enjoy my somewhat coherent posts :)
